My work is called Lion's Mane. We are a before and afterschool care and we also run a preschool. I love my job. I am lucky enough to get to do many fun crafts with the students at my work. Here are just a few examples of crafts I've done in the last few weeks:
I the first two, we were expeirimenting with how water effects different kinds of ink. We colored on paper towels and then we dropped water on them, watching the way that the different inks spread with the water. The kids had a blast with it, and the room ended up looking like NY city with "clothes lines" hanging all around the room.
In this last picture, I took the kids out side and we looked at Lookout mountain and North Mountain. I told the kids about Monet and how he painted. Then the kids studied the mountains and how they looked in the cloudy light. The paintings they did were wonderful. I think this is the most fun we had when doing a craft. It was really nice to get outside.
I also did a very fun craft with the kiddos yesterday. We were doing art much like Hans Arp. I told the kids about how he dropped ripped up paper onto a blank paper and created collages that way. We pushed all the tables back, turned on Radio Disney, and put large white paper on the ground. the kids spent the rest of the hour ripping up scrap construction paper and dropping them on to the white paper and glueing them where ever they happened to land. at the end of the hour, we had three "colloages of happy accidents" The kids had a blast. The collages are currently hanging up in our room. :) I love my job.
